Shaleeka

Shaleeka Ahuja grew up in New Delhi, India. She has been passionate about art ever since she could hold a crayon. Shaleeka is a self-taught artist and throughout her childhood she developed an appreciation for her surroundings and wanted to capture it in her art.

Shaleeka moved to the US about 5 years ago and took up art as a profession in 2010. She had been always fascinated by Jackson Pollock’s work and his life story and became an avid follower of the abstract expressionism movement. Abstract style of art became a natural choice for Shaleeka as she believes that the use of vibrant colors gives her the artistic freedom to express her thoughts and feelings.

Shaleeka draws inspiration from the world around her and loves to depict that in her art. You will see a lot of weathered and old wall look in her work which reminds her of an era gone by. It takes her hours and lots of layers of colors to bring out the dramatic effect, but she likes to think in the end it’s totally worth it!

Shaleeka has always been intrigued by rough textures and old wall look and has incorporated that in most of her work.

Influenced by artists like Jackson Pollock and Mark Rothko, Shaleeka aspires to create her own unique style and leave lasting impression in the art world.
